Created by British typeface designer Matthew Carter in 1992, Elephant is a first-rate representative of characters that emit a lineage associated with typefaces that are not only beautiful but also functional. This has allowed Elephant’s characters to move in fluid harmony with each other, (something not all typefaces possess) as words become fashioned. In italics the result is arresting.
Corresponding to Bodoni and similar thin and elegant serifs, Elephant, in present day finds itself comfortably settling in the context of fashion and lifestyle. This settlement activates editorial spreads and fashion photography to become fluent complements to a visual composition.
