Aubele returns with his fourth studio release Berlin 13, in March of this year. The new record has been proclaimed a resuscitation to Aubele’s sooty guitar and dub ambience.
Panamericana and Amatoria (Aubele’s previous records) had taken a subtle change in direction, pencilling in studio restraint and a lyrical focal point that at certain moments, nullified Aubele’s first album Gran Hotel Buenos Aires. A favorite in my music library, the first record showcases some of the best electronica to date, snaking Argentine guitar into the most ambient of musical production.
Determined by the German capital where Aubele spent a significant amount of time and the 13th Tarot card signifying renewal and rebirth, Berlin 13 presents 10 tracks characteristic of a city with a very notable electronic scene. Sticking to his collaborative methodology, the record features tracks with Natalia Clavier, Ka, Mauro Refosco and Jesse Harris.
